Dirty Laundry: Greenpeace Reports on Toxic Industrial Water Pollution
A report released by Greenpeace International in 2011, reveals the presence of hazardous chemicals in clothing items bearing the logos of 14 global popular brands, linking many of the same clothing brands to suppliers in China who were found to be releasing daily cocktail of chemicals into the Pearl River and Yangtze River deltas, discharging into the China Sea.

Rapid economic growth will continue to be energy-intensive and highly polluting for the foreseeable future, adding to environmental harm on a global scale and having a tremendous impact on ecological systems, according to a study that looked at a decade’s worth of data from 30 Chinese provinces to build a comprehensive model of pollution.

Jiangsu is a province on the South China Sea coast of the People’s Republic of China. Jiangsu has a coastline of over one thousand kilometers along the Yellow Sea, and the Yangtze River passes through its southern parts. Jiangsu borders Shandong in the north, Anhui to the west, and Zhejiang and Shanghai to the south.
