Tsunami Advisories cancelled for Hawaii and American Samoa, still in effect for southern California, NWS
The Tsunami Advisories that had been issued for Hawaii and American Samoa following a magnitude 8.3 earthquake off the coast of Chile have been cancelled. A Tsunami Advisory remains in effect for parts of southern California, though no major tsunami is expected for U.S. interests at this time. However, hazardous tsunami waves and strong currents are expected in areas under an advisory.
