Kaveri river meets Bay of Bengal, Poompuhar. The river Kaveri (Cauvery) begins as a small trickle in Kodagu malai/Coorg hills in Karnataka. It then flows south and east 750 km through Karnataka and Tamil Nadu states, gaining momentum and strength, fortified by tributaries, descending the Eastern Ghats in a series of great falls before entering the Bay of Bengal in Poompuhar.
